Donald F. Plunkett, Jr., is the founding principal architect and president of Studio One Design Group, Inc.
Mr. Plunkett has utilized his experience and expertise in the planning and design of various building types. In addition to monitoring the planning, design and construction of current commercial, residential and mixed use building projects, he has been working with several repeat clients like University Suburban Health Center where SODGI has provided design services for new labs, x-ray/radiology suites, surgery suites, public spaces, physicians offices and various ancillary services over the last 20 years as well as several current projects.
Prior to starting his professional architectural career, Mr. Plunkett spent six years in the construction industry, starting out as a laborer. Later he became an apprentice carpenter, working out of the Carpenters International Union of North America Local of Chicago, Illinois, and finally starting his own general contracting business before deciding to further his education in the field of architecture.
Mr. Plunkett attended Kent State University where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree with a major in Architecture in 1982 and continued his education, pursuing his Bachelor of Architecture Degree, which he received from Kent State University in 1983.
Mr. Plunkett became a registered architect in 1986 and currently holds an architect's registration in the State of Ohio with membership in National Council of Architectural Registration Board (NCARB).
Previous architectural experience includs affiliations with various nationally and internationally recognized design firms, such as RBI Design Group, Inc (Brecksville, OH); Zannoni Heckaman Gates Partnership, Inc.(Cleveland, OH); URS Corporation / Dalton, Dalton, Newport (Cleveland, OH / San Francisco, Ca); and Saunders Van Petten Architects(Cleveland, OH / Lagos Nigeria).
